Yesterday, our 8th-grade students had the privilege of hearing from the high school JROTC as they shared insights about their program and the career pathways it offers.
The JROTC cadets spoke about leadership, discipline, teamwork, and the many opportunities available through their program—both in high school and beyond. This visit helped our students explore how JROTC can prepare them for future careers in a variety of fields!
A big thank you to our high school JROTC for taking the time to inspire our future leaders!

📚✨ Celebrating World Read Aloud Day! ✨📚
Our 7M Advanced ELA students took a special trip to Southside yesterday to share the joy of reading with younger students! From animated storytelling to engaging discussions, it was a heartwarming experience for everyone involved. ❤️
Reading aloud fosters a love for literature, builds connections, and inspires young minds. We’re so proud of our students for being positive role models and spreading the magic of books!

7th grade has been learning about the ancient civilizations of Mesoamerica.
While studying the Aztecs, the classes spent Friday being split into “specialized professions” as the Aztec people were. Some tried their hand at being master artists who created religious masks. Others were engineers who tried to build/fold temples out of paper. Others were farmers who tried to build chinampas so that they could grow crops on the swampy lake that the great city of Tenochtitlan was built on.

🌱🚜 High School Ag Department Visits 8th Grade! 🚜🌱
Last Friday, our 8th graders had the exciting opportunity to hear from the HCHS Agriculture Department about their Agriculture Career Pathway! 🌾 Students learned about the many opportunities available in high school ag courses, FFA, and future careers in agriculture, from animal science to ag mechanics.
Thank you to the high school ag students and teachers for sharing their experiences and inspiring the next generation of agricultural leaders! 🌟

🌟 Student Leaders in Action! 🌟
Two of our incredible 8th Grade students, Marymichael Gasser and Leia French, stepped up as leaders to teach their peers an important Leader in Me lesson on organization and how it helps us "Think with the End in Mind." 🎯✨
They did an amazing job guiding the class through the benefits of staying organized, and now they’re taking it a step further! Today and tomorrow, they will lead a Locker & Supplies Organizational Boot Camp to help their classmates put these skills into action. 🗂️🎒
We love seeing our students take initiative and empower each other with valuable life skills! Way to go, girls!💡👏

Today, our 8th grade ELA classes put their argumentative writing skills to the test- HAT style!
To boost motivation and reinforce the key components of a strong introduction, students participated in HAT Day, a fun way to remember the essential parts:
🎩Hook- grab the reader's attention
🎩Acknowledge- address the other side
🎩Thesis- state your clear stance
With their introductions written and their hats on, our students showed creativity, critical thinking, and strong writing skills. Keep up the great work, 8th Graders!!
