This past weekend, a group of HCMS students had the honor of participating in a special community event hosted by the Blue Licks Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution at Veterans Park. During the ceremony, HCMS students, Sophie Cabrera, Ivy Thornton, and Payton Simpson, helped recognize local history by reading the names of Revolutionary War soldiers from Harrison County as part of a bench unveiling celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States. We are incredibly proud of these students for stepping up and representing HCMS with confidence, respect, and pride. Great job!

Members of the team shared information about our school's Lighthouse roles and shared highlights from our school-wide celebrations, events, and championships! Speaking with both confidence and knowledge, they represented HCMS with pride and enthusiasm!

We are bursting with pride today! Our incredible 7th and 8th-grade band traveled to the KMEA District 7 band assessment and officially brought home a DISTINGUISHED rating! 🏆
This is the highest honor a band can receive, and it is a direct result of the countless hours these students have practiced. They represented HCMS with absolute excellence.

What a day! We just wrapped up our third nine weeks reward day, and the energy in the gym was absolutely electric. ⚡️
Between some high-stakes, intense rounds of musical chairs and an epic dodgeball tournament, our students definitely earned their break!
🥇 Meet Our Champions
A huge congratulations to the 6th-grade gold team for officially winning The Belt! 🏆
They didn't just win on the court; they won by being consistent leaders in our hallways and classrooms. The Gold Team accumulated the most points this nine weeks by excelling in:
Attendance: Showing up ready to learn every single day.
GPA: Putting in the work and hitting those academic marks.
Cafeteria Culture: Keeping their area clean and modeling great behavior.
Character: Maintaining the lowest number of discipline referrals.
Literacy: Reading the most books of any team this nine weeks! 📚
Way to set the bar high, 6th grade! Who’s going to challenge them for the belt in the fourth nine weeks? Let’s finish the year strong! 💪
7th Grade Maroon Science explored light waves and candy. Students had to sort pieces of candy by color, using only one color of light at a time, then all three colors at once. They used colored finger lights to see which candies reflected and absorbed the light. Students were surprised and excited by the lab!
