π¦’ Congratulations, Mrs. Shields!
A huge round of applause for Mrs. Shields, our February GOOSE Award winner! GOOSE stands for "Get Out of School Early." Itβs one of our favorite traditions, but what makes this win truly special is that it is a student-nominated award. We are so lucky to have Mrs. Shields on our team. Enjoy your well-deserved break.

At HCMS, we aren't just teaching subjects; weβre building leaders! This week, we are incredibly proud to recognize a group of students who were "Caught Being a Leader" by following the ultimate blueprint: our School Mission Statement and the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens.
These students proved that when you have the right foundation, thereβs no limit to what you can build! π
Character is the "operating system" for a successful life, and these students are running on the latest version! Keep leading by example!

As part of National FFA Week, these hardworking students reminded us why this organization is the heart of our community. From the delicious food to the professional service, we are so proud of the leadership and dedication you show every day.
Weβre definitely full, happy, and feeling very appreciated! ππ

From the hallways to the classrooms, these students are making a real difference.

Whether heβs greeting students at the door with a smile, helping out in the hallways, or just being a supportive listener, Officer Coopage is a vital part of our school family. Thank you for keeping our halls safe and our spirits high. We are so lucky to have you at HCMS!

Just a quick reminder for our HCMS families that we will have a regular school day on Monday, February 16th (Presidents' Day). We canβt wait to see all our students back in the classroom for another great day of learning! π»β¨

Hi families! Midterm progress reports were sent home with students today.
Check those backpacks this afternoon to see how your student is progressing so far this nine weeks. These reports are a great opportunity to celebrate successes and identify areas where a little extra focus might be needed before the end of the nine weeks.
We are so proud of the hard work our students are putting in!

Don't let the best moments of the year fade away. Buy a yearbook for your bestie (or yourself!) this Valentine's!
The only way to guarantee your middle schooler receives a yearbook is to order online! There will be a limited supply available in person at the end of the year, and it will be first-come, first-served!

π Shaping Futures: 8th Grade Pathway Day!
Big things happened today for our 8th graders! π
Our students spent the day diving into Pathway Day, getting an up-close look at the incredible programs and career tracks waiting for them at HCHS. From hands-on technical skills to creative arts and more, they explored the diverse opportunities that will define their high school careers.
Why it matters:
By seeing these pathways in action today, our students are better equipped to:
1. Discover interests they didn't know they had.
2. Ask questions to high school instructors and current students.
3. Plan with purpose as they prepare their freshman-year schedules.

This week, we are celebrating Mrs. Kelsey Currans, our incredible Family Resource & Youth Service Center (FRYSC) director! Mrs. Currans is the bridge between our school, our families, and the resources our students need to succeed.
Whether itβs providing school supplies, connecting families with local resources, or just offering a listening ear, Mrs. Currans works tirelessly behind the scenes to remove barriers to learning.
Thank you for all you do for HCMS, Mrs. Currans!
The transition to high school is an exciting milestone, and itβs time to start planning that freshman year schedule! Here is the timeline you need to know:
Monday, Feb. 9th: Scheduling packets will be sent home with all 8th-grade students. Make sure to check those backpacks! π
Feb. 19th & 20th: Completed packets will be collected at HCMS.
Please take some time to review the courses and electives with your student. For more details on the process, check out the graphic below! π

This week, weβre shining a spotlight on the incredible individuals who help guide our students through their journey. From navigating friendship dynamics to planning for high school and beyond, our counselors are the heart of HCMS.
They provide a safe space, a listening ear, and endless encouragement for our students every single day.
Join us in celebrating and thanking our incredible counselors this week!
We love you, Mrs. Fryman and Ms. Dixon!
