Harrison County Ag Students Raise Turkeys

Harrison County Agriculture Students were spotlighted in the Lexington Herald-Leader newspaper with a feature story. Several photos were included with the article showing HCHS Ag students hard at work, caring for their turkeys. The newspaper article also drew the attention of a former HCHS graduate - a 1956 graduate, to be exact! Mr. Hilton Withers, a former Harrison County FFA President, saw the article online and emailed Ms. Robin to congratulate the Ag instructors and FFA students at both the Middle and High schools for this excellent program. Read the story here!

Are you being bullied? Call the Bully HOTLINE!

The number to call or text is 588-8081. Bullying should be reported to teachers, counselors or administrators. Sometimes students are afraid to tell an adult out of fear the bully will harm them. If you feel your child is being bullied or you as a student feel you are being bullied, call or text the hotline and leave a message to report the details of the situation.

The McDowell Trust...Helping to Grow Harrison's Future Farmers

The Harrison County School System has maintained a strong agriculture program through the years. Part of this achievement is due to the continued support of the McDowell Trust, established by Agnes McDowell in her efforts to instill a love of the land in our young farmers. Since October 2007 the McDowell Trust has contributed over $100,000 to the Harrison County Board of Education for the sole purpose of helping to maintain and improve the Agriculture Education Department in Harrison County Schools. A New Technology Resource for Teachers and Students

Harrison County will begin to implement a new technology resource for our teachers and students. We will be working with MyVRSpot to create a showcase of web based classroom instruction. The media accounts will enable teachers to create electronic web based documents containing embedded video. These documents can be viewed on computers, ipads, phones, etc. from school or home. They can also be shared between teachers and will allow collaboration among departments to create a repository of documents that could be thought of and utilized as pages from an electronic textbook. Stay tuned as we begin to implement this great resource! Get a sneak peak of the showcase here and a blog with embedded video here!
