To: All Harrison County Public Schools Students, Parents, Faculty, Staff, and Community
A letter was sent home today in an effort to keep you informed about the Coronavirus otherwise known as COVID-19. Since the time that letter was finalized and sent home there has been a confirmed case in Kentucky. According to the Harrison County Health Department's web page, the confirmed patient is from Harrison County. We just learned of this information in the past couple of hours this evening. To our knowledge, there is no relationship of the confirmed patient to the school system. According to the health department's web page, the person is a resident of Harrison County and therefore could have come into contact with any number of individuals. To determine the potential contacts, WEDCO, along with the State Department for Public Health, will be performing contact investigations.
We are closely monitoring this event and will be taking any necessary action as directed by the Harrison County Health Department, Kentucky Department of Public Health, and the Center for Disease Control (CDC). At this time, other than increased efforts to properly clean and disinfect, there is no recommendation for any modification to our normal operating schedules. We will be meeting together with Judge Barnett, Mayor Smith, Dr. Crystal Miller of WEDCO and other state officials to determine any necessary measures in the future. We will continue to update this page with any new information from the school regarding this issue.
