Our focus:

Math - We began division last week, and this week we will be moving on to some problem solving with division. Students are doing well understanding that division is the opposite of multiplication: in multiplication we are taking lots of small groups and putting them together to find a total, but in division we are starting with the total and breaking it up into smaller groups.

PLEASE, please, please, please practice multiplication facts with your children at home (or in the car, at a ballgame, at McDonald's, during commercial breaks, etc.)! If students don't know their multiplication facts, they won't be able to divide.  Some students get very frustrated at this point in the year because they don't have facts memorized.  Help them out as much as possible!

Reading – Mrs. Murdock is spending another week on tall tales.

Science – Mrs. Clevinger is working on earthquakes and cause and effect.

Social Studies – We are finishing up some Kentucky history and will be moving on to regions of Kentucky later this week.

Upcoming Events

January 16 – Martin Luther King Day, No School

January 30 - Make up day, school will be in session

Christmas Chaos!

Posted in Other Info, Upcoming Events at 3:31 pm by admin

It's Christmas time again, and we're busy, busy, busy! Here are some important events that are happening this week:

Wednesday - 2nd 9 Weeks Yard Sale: Please send in all items you don't want anymore! Adult items are welcome as well, since students like to buy gifts for family members at this yard sale.  Remember that one man's trash is another man's treasure!

Thursday – Christmas party from 1:00-1:45. Please have all gifts for soldiers turned in by this day so we can get them shipped to arrive around Christmas.  Drinks are provided, but please send snacks!

Friday – Last 1/2 day of school!  Our Christmas Sing-a-Long will happen on this day, and to support Relay for Life, students may wear pajamas if they bring $1 and a permission slip to school on or before Friday.

Classes: Students will be taking their third math common assessment in math on Tuesday, and their weekly vocab quiz in science on Wednesday.  Students should be prepared to do a terrific job!

Have a great Christmas break and I will see you back at school on January 2!
