It is almost the end of January and I cannot believe it! We usually have several snowdays by now, so it is a nice change of pace to actually be able to teach in January!!!!! This week, our activities have centered around The Snowy Day.

Math: Math Journals, math packets
Language Arts: Letter Ff, new BUZZ words see, look

Upcoming events:
Monday, January 30 students WILL report to school.
This is also the 100th day of school.

Look for information regarding our Valentine’s Day Party coming soon.

Send in those boxtops! We are having a race and we are doing very well right now!

clipart-ghost.gifWhat a fun week we have had…busy too!  We got to go to Edgemont Nursing Home for trick or treating.  We had a fabulous day at Evan's Apple Orchard!!

Our story this week is Armadillo's Orange.  Our feature letter is Ss and new Buzz Words are have and away.

We will do Math assessments as well this week.  Enjoy your weekend!

There is a letter going home today in your child's BEE BOOK.  There is alot of important dates and information.  Please make sure you check it out!

Our story this week in reading has been Dig, Dig, Digging.  We have learned some interesting vocabulary about transportation.

Make sure you continue to practice letters, sounds, and numbers as they are sent home with your child.

autumn-leaves_stock-_photo.jpgThis week in Mrs. Free's kindergarten we have been reading Julius.  We are focusing on characters in our story and the letter Mm review.  

We started working on graphing in Math.  We are still learning shapes and numbers.

Picture day is coming up.  Please make sure to check your child's BEE Book for news and announcements.  We are also having a soap and shampoo drive to assist Morehead State University students help the needy.  If we have the most, we win a pizza party.

Halloween party is coming up, along with our first field trip…info will come after Fall Break.

Speaking of Fall Break….I hope you all have a safe and happy one!!!

bestfriends_975×975.jpgWe have been in Kindergarten 32 days already!!!!  We are 32 days smarter….

This week, we have introduced the following letters, sounds, and purpose….Oo, Pp, Qq, Rr, Ss.

We have worked on numbers 6,7, and 8.  We had our first Math assessment and we did a great job!

Next week, we have an author visit.

The fire department visited us and gave us our forms for the coloring contest.  I sent those home in the BEE BOOKS for your child to color and return.

Please continue to practice our BUZZ Words!

                                                                        Tanner Stroub September 11th  5 years old

This week we are learning our shapes, and reviewing numbers 0-6

We have been working on letters A-I.  We have learned which letters are vowels/consonants, the sound they make, and how to form them.  

Next week we will begin some assessments to see how we are progressing.

grandparent-clr-card-coupleth.gifTomorrow is our 2011 Grandparents Day at Southside.  We look forward to seeing all of our special guests at our school.  We have made a few special items to send home with our visitors.

This week at the Kinderhive:

We have studied the following letters this week:  A, B,C, D, and E.

We are working on our numbers 0-9.

We have made word charts, written on journal paper, and read many fabulous books!

***Remember Monday is Labor Day, there is no school.

***Please continue to check your child's BEE BOOK daily.  Make sure you initial the behavior chart.  If you find flashcards in your child's folder, please practice them at home.

***The new snack calendar went home, make sure you check it!

 **We learned all about the letter Ll (the sound, the formation of the letter, that it is a consonant)

**We read great books including Leo the Late Bloomer, Leaves, Leaves, Leaves, and Look Again.

**We continued practicing school-wide procedures.

**We learned about and reviewed the numbers 0,1, and 2.

**Mrs. Free introduced us to centers!!!
