Reading-
In reading this week we will be working on reading words with long e. We will also be using the reading strategy of sequencing. This is an excellent strategy to use at home when reading with your student. Key words, first, next, then and finally. Stories this week will be focused on nature and how people react to their surroundings.

Science- WATER CYCLE and WEATHER

Please look at notes each night. We are adding new information about weather and the water cycle each day.

Math- Fractions

Study vocabulary in math notebook. Mrs. Hunt will be giving a quiz each week on ALL vocabulary that student’s have learned all year This week the test will be on Friday. Next week it will be a pop quiz.

Ask your student to show you how to find equivalent fractions:

1/3= ______

Multiply both the numerator and denominator by the same number

1/3 X 2= 2/6 so 1/3 is equivalent to 2/6

Welcome Back!

I was so happy to see all the smiling faces Bye coming into class today.  I am so excited to see them all.  I guess you could say we have had a nice break.  Back to business today.

We completed a new spelling test today.  Students were well prepared and did a great job.  They will receive a new spelling packet on Monday.  Please have them practice their words nightly.  Have them find patterns in the words.  Encourage them to find one word to use in a sentence each night.  This will help to expand their vocabulary as well as their abililty to retain the spelling of the word.

Next week we will begin a new reading story.  Please be looking for new word lists, stories and strategy worksheets on Monday.

Enjoy the great WARM weekend.
