February 6 – 10

Our story for the week is “Mama’s Birthday Present”. We will discuss drawing conclusions.

Spelling words – Long a -ai and -ay. We will have our pretest on Thursday. If your child makes a 102 on the pretest, they do not have to take the test on Friday.

Math – Fact homework and math homework sheet each night. This week we will focus on counting/writing to 120 by 5′s and 10′s. We will continue to practice doubles plus one facts, adding 2 facts and review our other math facts. We will also work on finding the missing addend in a math problem.

Reading – please read with your child each night. Monday and Tuesday – decodable readers, Wednesday – Ten important sentences, Thursday -Mama’s Birthday Present

Students will make their Valentine boxes at home. Please send in Valentine boxes and Valentines before February 13.
Please send in Yearbook order forms and field trip forms as soon as possible.

Music Program is March 1. A letter was sent home today about the program.

January 30 – February 3

Our story for the week is “Where Are My Animal Friends”. It is a play. We will discuss sequencing.

Spelling words – Comparative endings -er and -est. We will have our pretest on Thursday. If your child makes a 102 on the pretest, they do not have to take the test on Friday.

Math – Fact homework and math homework sheet each night. This week we will focus on counting/writing to 120 by 2′s and 1′s. We will continue to practice doubles plus one facts, adding 2 facts and review our other math facts.

Reading – please read with your child each night. Monday and Tuesday – decodable readers, Wednesday – Ten important sentences, Thursday -Where Are My Animal Friends.

Students will make their Valentine boxes at home. I will be sending a letter home on Wednesday, February 1.
Friday – February 3 is GO RED! Please have your child wear red on this day.

A letter about our trip to the Explorium for Explor-a-Smile will be coming home next week.

Welcome back to a new week!!

Our story for the week is "I'm a Caterpillar" we will discuss drawing conclusions and the life cycle of a buterfly.

Spelling words – r controlled vowels -ir, -er, -ur.  We will have our pretest on Thursday.  If your child makes a 102 on the pretest, they do not have to take the test on Friday.

Math – Fact homework and math homework sheet each night.  This week we will focus on counting to 120 by 5's, 2's and 1's. We will count groups of objects in math.   We will also work on writing to 120.  We will learn doubles plus one facts and review our other math facts. 

Reading – please read with your child each night.   Monday and Tuesday – decodable readers, Wednesday – Ten important sentences, Thursday -I'm a Caterpillar.

We will be in school on January 30.  This is a change.  

The 100th day of school is Monday, January 30.   A letter was sent home today with a ziploc bag attached for your child's collection.

Students will make their Valentine boxes at home.  I will be sending a letter home later in the week.

Spelling words – we are adding -ed to the word.  We will have our pretest on Thursday.  If your child makes a 102 on the pretest, they do not have to take the test on Friday.

Math – Fact homework and math homework sheet each night.  This week we will focus on counting to 120 by 10's, adding 10 to a number and reviewing tens and one place.

Reading – please read with your child each night.   Tuesday – decodable readers, Wednesday – Ten important sentences, Thursday -Frog and Toad Together .

We will be in school on January 30.  This is a change.  

The 100th day of school is fast approaching.  A letter will be sent home soon.

Students will make their Valentine boxes at home.  I will be sending a letter home next week.

Reading – please read with your child each night.  Monday and Tuesday – decodable reader, Wednesday – Ten important sentences, Thursday – Jan's New Home.

There is no school on Monday, January 16 Martin Luther King Jr Day observed.  

We will be in school on January 30.  This is a change.

January 2 – 6

Welcome Back Everyone!!  Winter greeted us this morning with a little snow and some cold air.

Our story for the week is "Ruby in Her Own Time"  We will focus on the plot of the story and -ng and -nk.

In Math we will continue to talk about time to the hour and we will introduce time to the half hour.  We will continue to work on our math facts.

Please remember to review spelling words each night.

Report cards will be sent home on January 6.  Please sign folder and return it to school.

Newsletters came home today in blue folders.

Christmas Party is Thursday, December 15 beginning at 1:30.  Please send in your wrapped book as soon as possible.  If you would like to bring something to the party, contact Susan Cornett.

Friday we will dismiss at 11:30 for Christmas Break!!

This week we will read "An Egg is an Egg".  We will learn about long e and long i made by y.  We will also discuss the plot of the story.
