Kindergarten and 1st Grade will continue using Kidpix typing to review keyboarding skills.
2nd and 3rd Grade will add 3 more slides to their Powerpoint slideshows.
4th and 5th Grade will continue to work on their IMovies. They will finish writing scripts for each image, and some students will be ready to record their scripts.

This week in the lab:
Kindergarten-1st Grade will review keyboarding skills. They will review using capitalization, punctuation, and 1 space between each word. They will also learn to use the arrow keys, delete, and return keys.
2nd and 3rd Grade will learn how to make simple power point presentations. They will change the background, add a new slide, and insert a picture of themselves into a slide.
4th and 5th Grade will continue working on their science IMovies. They will import the pictures they collected into IMovie, arrange their slides in the order they desire, and begin writing a script for each slide.

The students have worked very hard this week on their technology skills!!
Kindergarten and 1st Graders have practiced using mouse skills with Build your Own Snowman and ABCya.com.
2nd and 3rd Graders have practiced keyboarding skills.
4th and 5th Graders have begun finding images for their science research project IMovies.

Since we have missed a Tuesday and Friday for snow, and Monday was Martin Luther King day, we are going to use this week as a catch up week for our classes. Those classes that have missed lessons will get to make them up, and those that are up to date will have a review and them some free time to explore tools we have used so far this year.

This week in the lab:
K-1st will continue with internet basics. The will use www.crawfordthecat.com to practice navigating a website.
2nd-3rd will practice searching for and inserting clip art in Microsoft Word.
4th-5th will still be working on their Powerpoint presentations.

Welcome to a new year! Our school year is half way over, but 2012 has just begun… I hope everyone enjoyed their holiday break, and had time to rest and enjoy family and friends!
This week in the computer lab…
Kindergarten and 1st will begin learning internet terms. They will also practice navigating to a website through the student links on our homepage.
2nd and 3rd will create word clouds using their bio poems and www.worditout.com. They will practice highlighting the text, editing, copying and pasting, as well as using the formatting tools to create their word clouds.
4th and 5th will begin telling stories using powerpoint.
Each class will also have individual time on the IPad. It will be passed from student to student until each child has a turn to use it.
This week at Northside, we are looking forward to a fun and exciting end to the semester! There are many great activities planned this week, from Christmas “spirit” dress up days, classroom parties, and even a Christmas Carol sing-a-long…
In the lab, we will continue where we left off last week.
K-1 will continue working on communication with technology. We will even send an email to Santa!!!
2nd will review internet basics and logging into the internet.
3rd will make graphs and charts with spreadsheets.
4th-5th will finish their Voki’s for their research projects.
As time allows, each class will have a chance to visit www.emailsanta.com. There are many fun activities on this page for kids and adults of all ages…

This week will be a busy one in the lab…
Kindergarten and 1st Grade will begin learning about communication. We will talk about the way it has changed over the years. We will also practice dialing a telephone number with www.starfall.com.
2nd Grade will begin learning about Internet Basics.
3rd Grade will learn about Spreadsheets.
4th and 5th Grade will continue doing research on their projects. After they have all of their information, they will then create a Voki to tell what they have learned.
