Hope everyone enjoyed spring break. I was gone with the baseball team to South Carolina. We didn’t do so well !!!

The next three weeks are critical weeks to review for the state test.
We will be focusing on functions to begin with but much of this time will be spent reviewing strands.

Hello students,

Welcome back to school. Hope you had a good vacation.  Before break we began the Geometry unit. We will continue with this unit through Feb. Im banking on some snow days ahead.  This is  a big unit but an important unit.  You willl have a Geometry class in high school that will last at least a semester.  We here at the ms will be in this unit for two months.  We are only touching the surface as you can see.   See you at school !!!

Students, I was satisfied with the 1st 9 weeks grades.  Many did real well and worked hard. Please keep up the hardwork and remember the 2nd 9 weeks is somewhat shorter with the holidays coming, so dont slack off.   

Pre-Algebra

Students will be focusing on Exponential Relationships.  This will be one of the most important types of nonlinear relationships.

Algebra

Students will be focusing on inequalities and graphing inequalities.  We also tie in real world problems within this unit and graph possible solutions.

You will have a 9 week test next Friday. Slope and the Pythagorean Theorem.

Hope everyone had a good Labor day vacation.

We have had a good start to the new year.Sorry I have not been on here since school started. 

Analytical Math-

We have been into Samples and Populations. Box and Whisker, Histograms, Stem and Leaf plots and Scatterplots.  You all are doing very well.

Regular Math and Algebra-

We have been looking at slope using the slope triangle and its formula.  We will soon be graphing a line

Algebra students are actually ahead and solving equations into slope intercept form.

All this is new to 8th grade students. 

 All students will be taking the DEA (Thinklink test) this week.

Departing students,

Thanks for a fine year !!! Wish you the best in high school !!  Goodluck and absorb that math !!!  Be a sponge !!!!

Incoming students,

Expect some serious changes in math.  It's getting more demanding and tougher.  New standards and content will require these changes.  Many teachers have moved around in the building as well.  I have stayed put.   Sorry if you don't like that !!!!    We will have to make the best of it that we can.  At this time I will be teaching the Gifted and Talented class.

Be looking for the list of needs for your classes.  Soon, Im sure on the front doors of the school you will find the team that you are on.

Algebra-  We will be finishing up the Geometry unit within the next week. We will then review for the CATS test coming up in May.

PreAlgebra-We are currently reviewing probability.  This will conclude within the next few days. We will then be grouped together to review the CATS test coming in May using the Buckledown book.

All students will be taking the third and final predictor test this Friday. This test will be a bit longer than the past two.  It will consist of 16 mc questions and 2 open ended questions. There is no review for this test but if you want to try to review I would look at the bellringers from the whole year. This test will be taken from what we have done from the beginning of school.

We will be taking the third and final Thinklink test next Mon and Tue in the lab. There is no studying for this test either.

Pre- Algebra

Students are currently in the Statistics unit. 

Algebra

Students were given a regular 8th grade math book because we are spending some quality time in Geometry. This is to strengthen their knowlegde of geometry for the CATS test in April.

Algebra students will be finishing up slope intercept form and in the near future FOIL method

Pre Algebra students will be finishing up combining like terms and in the near future we will be looking at algebraic expressions.

 Jan 5-7

This week of school will be part of the 2nd 9 wks.  So with that said look for a 9wk assessment coming this Friday. We will continue to review for this test throughout the week. We may be gettings some snowy weather in Thur night and Friday.  If we do the test will be given the day we return.
