YEA!! Testing is OVER!!!
We have a busy week ahead of us:
Monday we will begin Barbie Bungee.
Learning Objectives:
I can collect data using a rubber band bungee cord and a Barbie doll.
I can use the data collected to construct a scatterplot and generate a line of best fit.
I can predict how many rubber bands are needed for Barbie to safely jump from a given distance.
We will work on this all week.
Tuesday the band will be going to Gatti Town.
Friday is the 8th grade Luau
Saturday is the 8th grade dance.
April 30-May 4, 2012
This is the final week before testing.
We will be reviewing concepts learned this year. If you have questions about a particular concept please ask me and we can review it before testing.
Please bring a calculator to class if you have one so we will have enough for testing.

This week we will be completing Systems of Equations.

This weeks 8th grade Maroon team will have a science test on Thursday.
This week in math we will finish up solving equations.
We will be exploring:
Point-slope equations : y-y1=m(x-x1)
Slope-intercept formula: y=mx+b (this is a review)
I can statements for the week: I can use the point-slope formula
I can solve equations by using like terms.
I can take an equation from the Point-slope form to the slope-intercept form.
This is the last week before Easter and Spring break.
When we return to school from spring break we will have 3 weeks before testing begins, YIKES the year is quickly escaping.

We will go over common misconceptions from the Common Assessment.
Don’t forget my 8th grade students I tutor Tuesdays and Thursdays, so if you are having trouble understanding a concept you are welcome to say:)

This week we will explore functions.
We will learn to identify, compare and graph functions looking at equations, tables and graphs. Fun times:)
Reminder: Tuesday’s tutoring is canceled.
For my 4th period intervention students, don’t forget we are having an end of semester reward pizza party Friday 3/23/12.

Monday- Snow day, I hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend.
This week we will look at functions, linear equations and graphing them. Thursday will be the 3rd 9 weeks test.
Wed. Students interested in Project Lead the Way, will have an opportunity to tour Toyota and find out more about how this program will relate to a job after high school.

The 3rd 9 weeks ends March 9th. This week is very busy with end of the 9 weeks testing and scheduling for next year.
Tuesday during 2nd period students from the High School will come to speak to the 8th grade students about classes offered at the High School.
Thursday March 1st is scheduling for 8th grade students. Scheduling will take place at the Middle School from 9:00am-1:00pm and then at the High School at 6:00pm. Please plan to attend one of these times to register for classes next year. The sooner you are able to come the better your chances are of getting into the classes you want.
2nd period class we will be completing the “Borrowers” and will have a test on it next week.
5th Period- Pre-Algebra we will complete dilatation, and review for our Common Assessment next week.

Monday:
President’s Day (No School)
Tuesday:
Review Solving for Inequalities and graphing Inequality solutions on a number line. Students will bring home homework.
Wednesday
Solving Inequalities, review any misconceptions from last nights homework.
Thursday
Inequalities continued we will look at more difficult ones. Students will demonstrate how to solve and be able to explain what the graph will look like.
Friday
We will continue with Inequalities and graphing.
Jeans Day!
Dance will be after school.
