Geologic Time

Greetings, hope all is well. This past week, we’ve worked on our geologic time flip books that will allow students to read and interpret the past dating back to what some believe is the beginning of earth. Next Monday, there is no school due to President’s Day, but do be looking for an exam for the students in the middle of next week. Let’s hope ol’ man winter is gone for good, b/c i can since springtime is in the air! Cheers!

Clues to the Past

Greetings,  I sincerely apologize for my lack of keeping up with my blog this past month.  I guess time got away from me to many times and it slipped my mind.  Regardless, i will do better at keeping up with my blog on a weekly basis to keep you informed of what’s going on.

This past month, students have learned about plate tectonics and the theory of continental drift.  Next week, we somewhat continue the theme of the past and turn our attention on fossils and how they form and the age of rocks.

Congrats and good luck goes out to the 8th grade basketball team as they compete for the bluegrass conference championship title tonight in Bourbon Co.  vs.  Elkhorn.

Ecosystems II

Greetings, hope all is well during this very busy time of year.  On Monday, Dec. 12, the students MENU items are due.  They have known about these projects for nearly 2 weeks so they've had plenty of time to be working on them.  Also next week, we will be having our 9 weeks exam over curriculum we have covered since fall break.

In our Lab class, we will start dissecting frogs, something that the kids always look forward to!  Cheers!

Ecosystems

Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving break!  Only a couple of more weeks and there will be another!!!

The remainder of the semester looks to be a very busy one. We've started a unit on ecosystems and will discuss succession and the variety of biomes that make up our world we live in.  There will be projects that need to be completed at home, so be prepared to possibly help your child when needed.  Thanks for all your help in this matter.

Have a great week!  Cheers,

Tis the Season

Tis the season to be thankful for many things in life.  I'm sure everyone's list has many similarities and therefore, also different.  Not many of the kids are thankful for school, but i know i am and i'm also thankful for the students we have this year.  Time is flying by and i truly have enjoyed them thus far.  I hope you can take the time to help shed some light on the importance of school and how lucky we are to have it here in the U.S.A.  Too many take school  for granted but just know there are some kids in the world that would do anything to get there hands on a book.

Have a wonderful holiday season, Cheers!
