    Week 12 October 3 – 10 Fillies Soccer

It has certainly been a busy two weeks for Fillies Soccer.  Both the JV and Varsity tied Grant Co. on Monday night and the Varsity won against Pendleton Co. last night 2-0 and JV lost 3-0.  It was a great game in pink last night for a great cause.  It was the first annual "Hooves and Paws for the cause" game but we plan to repeat it for many years to come.  I forwarded all parents with an email the picture of the two teams together.  If you didn't get it let me know.

Last night was the final JV game.  It has been quite a learning experience for the JV team this season and it has been a lot of fun watching them grow and learn soccer.  They are definately a better team now then they were in the beginning and that's what we like to see.  I have asked all JV girls to turn in their uniforms as soon as possible so we can mark that off the list.  Once the varsity season ends I will begin work on the banquet so be watching for that date and information around the end of October.

Varsity plays their final regular season game tonight at Lebus Field against Model.  It is the last time this group of seniors will play on Lebus so it is sure to be an emotional night.

We will have district practice on Friday from 4-5 at Lebus and then again 9 – 10:30 Saturday morning.  We will have our annual spaghetti supper at my house Sunday night at 6:00.  Don't forget to bring your t-shirt to decorate after we eat.  We will practice at 8:30 Monday morning at Lebus and then go to McDonald's for breakfast.  The bus leaves at 5:00 for our 7:15 start against Paris.

I gave the girls each a bracket and schedule for the events of next week.  If you have any questions don't hesitate to contact me.  This is what we have been working for since July 15th and it is a very exciting time.  Go Fillies!!

    Week 11 September 26 – October 2 Fillies Soccer

Last night was senior night and it was great!  Thanks so much for everyone that worked to make it such a success.  I know the girls appreciate it and I do as well.  It was a great 4-0 victory over Frankfort and we were really needing a good solid win.

We have added a JV game that will be played tonight, September 27th at Frankfort.  If you need directions just email or text me and I will get those to you ASAP.

Wednesday, September 28 we play district rival Clark Co. at Lebus Field.  The JV game starts at 6 and the varsity at 7:30.  Please be at the field 45 minutes before the start time of your game.  We will wear all white for this game.

Thursday, September 29 we travel to Bryan Station for a JV and Varsity match.  JV plays at 5:30 and varsity at 7:00.  Carol Richie is in charge of the after school snacks.  If you are a 7th grade parent and you are willing to help her out please contact her and let her know.

We will NOT have practice on Friday, September 30th.

Next week we have 3 games again.  We travel to Grant Co. on Monday.  Wednesday we travel to Pendleton and this is the Breast Cancer Awareness game.  Remember that we are donating $1 for every box of cookies sold to the Susan G. Komen Center.  The girls will be wearing a hot pink jersey for the occasion.  I do need help with after school snacks for Monday and Wednesday.  If you are willing to help or send in items please contact me.  Our final game next week will be on Thursday, October 6th.  It is varsity only against Model and it is at Lebus Field.  The completion of these three games will complete the 2011 regular season.  As soon as I know the district schedule I will be sure to get that out to you.

As always if you have questions don't hesitate to contact me.  Go Fillies!!

    Week 10 – September 18 – 24

Last week we won a GREAT game against Lafayette 1 – 0 and lost a heart breaker to Montgomery Co. 3 – 0.  The saving grace about the loss to Montgomery is that we will see them again in district action and we will be better prepared for them at that time.  JV won against Lafayette and was beat by Montgomery as well.

We ended the week last week with two good days of practice and we will have two good days of practice this week before meeting Bourbon Co. on Wednesday.  We practice 4 – 5:30 on Monday and Tuesday at Lebus Field.  The games Wednesday are at Lebus Field as well.  JV plays at 5:30 and players need to be there at 4:45.  The varsity game will start at 7:00 and playes need to be at the field at 5:45.  We wear all white since we are the home team.

We practice Thursday 4 – 5:30.  I will announce practice on Friday.  If the boys are not practicing we will practice 4 – 5:30 but I will let you know later in the week.

Seniors don't forget that I need the pictures for your senior board by Friday.  Senior night is next Monday, September 26th and there is a lot to do to be ready.

If you have questions please don't hesitate to contact me.  We need to make sure we are ready to end the season on a STRONG note!!  Go Fillies!!

    Week 9 – September 10 – 16, 2011

I did last weeks post so late that I am not going to recap last week.  It was a good week with a good start to our district play with the win over Paris.

We started this week strong with a Strong win over Lafayette.  I was really proud of how hard the girls played.  Haley Carr finished a great corner kick for the win.  It was AWESOME!!  We have another tough district opponent on Wednesday night in Montgomery Co.  We will travel to MCHS.  It is the 8th grade classes turn to provide snack.

I did give the girls their team sweat suit and t-shirt.  I really liked them and I think the girls did too.

We will begin getting ready for senior night.  It will be held September 26th.  It is hard to believe it is already time to start planning for that.

Thanks to all for your hard work and support.  I know it means a lot to the girls.  If you have any questions or concerns just let me know.  Let's keep the winning streak alive with a win over the Lady Indians!!  Go Fillies!!

    Week 8 – September 5 – 9, 2011

I apologize for posting so late in the week.  The Labor Day Holiday threw me off.

The Somerset trip was quite an adventure.  The girls had a great time as did the coaches and bus driver.  The downer of the trip was the cancellation of the Pikeville game but we enjoyed our time together anyway.  We came home with a solid win over Somerset 2-0.  Marly Jenkins and Haley Carr both had goals.  Marly assisted Haley's goal and Haley assisted Marly's goal.

Wednesday we defeated Paris 4 – 1.  We kept it close until the end and finally we pulled away for the convincing win.  Goals were scored by Marly (2), Haley and Johnna Marshall.  If you missed Johnna's header goal you missed a good one.

We practice Thursday and Friday this week from 4 – 5:30 at Lebus Field.

We still have a few boxes of cookie dough left.  If you know anyone that wants a box or someone asks about an extra box just let me know.  The boxes are still full price ($16.00).

The JV tournament for this weekend in Pendleton Co. has been canceled (I guess).  I have tried on numerous occasions to contact the PC coach and she has never responded.  So I am canceling our participation in the tournament.  I can't imagine the tourney is still going on and I haven't heard from her.

Next week we play Lafayette on Monday at home and we play at Montgomery on Wednesday.  Both are JV/Varsity double headers.

We will begins working on Senior Night and End of the season events.  Thanks to everyone for all your help.  And as always if you have questions don't hesitate to contact me.

    Fillies Soccer Week 7 August 29 – September 2

Last week was a good week for the Fillies Soccer team.  The varsity tied East Jessamine and defeated St. Pat and Walton Verona.  The JV soccer team got their first win of the season by defeating Walton Verona.  Good job Ladies!!!

This week will hopefully be as exciting as we travel to Franklin Co. tonight to play a JV/ Varsity double header and we travel to Campbell Co. on Wednesday for a JV/Varsity double header.  The JV games will start at 6:00 and the varsity at 7:30.  If you need directions and didn't get them from your player earlier in the season just let me know.  We will have Subway sandwiches, fruit and chips for the girls after school for both games.

Cookie Dough will be delivered on Tuesday, August 30th.  The truck will be here at 3:00.  Please be prepared to pick your daughter up around 4:00 and deliver cookies.  We will not have practice we will just focus on getting cookie dough delivered on Tuesday.

We will practice 4 – 5:30 on Thursday at Lebus Field.

Friday the high school players will depart at 4:30 for the over night trip to Somerset.  I will give the girls the itenerary for the weekend on Tuesday.  If you have any questions about the trip don't hesitate to contact me.  We should arrive home on Saturday around midnight.

One change to the schedule, senior night has been moved to September 26th at the Frankfort game.  Please mark your calendar accordingly.  I will begin working on that night when we return from Somerset.

We will take Sunday, September 4 and Monday, September 5th off.  We will have practice again on Tuesday, September 6th from 4 – 5:30 at Lebus Field.  As always if you have any questions don't hesitate to contact me.  Go Fillies!!

    Fillies Soccer Week 6 – August 21 – 27

The first three games of the 2011 soccer season are in the books.  We played a very tough Dixie Heights last Monday night and lost 3 – 0.  On Wednesday we traveled to Boone County and lost 2 – 0.  The JV team also lost both games but both teams are playing better and things are starting to click.  Props to Olivia Gasser and Chelsea Ingram.  Both are playing very well in the goal and working very hard.  The JV lost last night to East Jessamine 3 – 1.  The varsity tied 0 – 0.  We had several opportunities to score and East Jessamine did too but neither team could find the back of the net.

We turned in cookie dough orders last week and learned that the team has made $5000 off cookie dough sales.  Thanks to everyone that sold cookie dough.  The money will help pay for the two new goals on the practice field, the socks, bags, replacement uniforms, the new practice shorts, team t-shirts and sweat suits, the banquet, senior night, the trip to Somerset and much more…  The cookie dough will be in on August 30th so plan to pick it up and deliver that day.

This week is the only week for parents to order team t-shirts and sweat suits.  If you would like to order them you will need to go out to Thorobred Sportswear to order and pay for them.  Their store hours are Monday – Friday 10 – 6.  You will get the team prices you just have to take care of your orders individually.

We play at home again on Wednesday against St. Pat.  This is a varsity game only.  The game begins at 6:00 at Lebus Field.  We have a home game on Saturday against Walton Verona.  We play at the athletic complex behind the middle school.  The JV plays at 11:00 and the varsity at 12:30.

As always if you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact me.  Thanks to all that have been working the gate, concession, sold cookie dough and been supportive.  It means a lot to the girls and to me.  Have a great week.  GO FILLIES!!

    Cross Country 8 – 20 – 11

Cross Country practice has been going well.  I'm pleased with our numbers with over 40 athletes in both the hs and ms.  The hot temps have been a challenge, but so far, so good.  We're looking forward to starting the season next week with an all comers at the Archives on Wednesday and the Holmes Licking River Run on Saturday.  Practice is good, but meets are fun.

    Fillies Soccer Week 5 – August 13 – 20

The varisty scrimmage this past Saturday was a success.  We beat Pendleton Co. 5 – 0.  Randi Schweitzer scored 2 goals, Taylor Fry scored 1, Marly Jenkins scored 1 and Hannah Thomas scored 1.  We had as many assists as we did goals and like I told the girls the assists looked as good as the goals.  We played good team soccer and saw several things to work on this week to make us even better.  The JV didn't fair as well and lost to Pendleton's JV.  But I thought the girls showed a lot of heart and played hard for 60 minutes.  The younger girls played better at the end of the game then at the beginning and that is for sure what you like to see.

We open the regular season tonight playing Dixie Heights at Lebus Field.  The JV game will begin at 6:00 and the varsity at 7:30.  We travel to Boone Co. on Wednesday for a JV game at 5:30 and varsity at 7:00.  It is great to start playing games.

Tomorrow night is the night to turn in all cookie dough orders and the money.  We will have practice from 4 – 5:30 at the middle school.  We will do cookie dough sales but we will also make signs for the trailer we will be riding on in the Bowl Parade this weekend.  Yes, we will be riding in the Bowl Parade.  Lexi Fryman's grandfather has graciously agreed to drive in the parade.  All players need to be at the trailer on Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m.

We will practice Thursday and Friday at Lebus Field from 4:00 – 5:30.  Parents please be sure to see Kelly Besson or myself and sign up to work the gate and concession stand.  If you have any questions about the upcoming week don't hesitate to contact me.  Go Fillies!!
