Valentine’s Day Party

Filed under: Notes Home — admin @ 6:03 pm

We will be having our Valentine’s Day Party on Monday, February 13th at 2:00.  This party will be held in each individual homeroom unlike the Christmas Party which was a combined 5th grade event.  Since February is Heart Health Month, we ask that “heart healthy” snack be sent in.  Snack suggestions are fruit, vegetables, popcorn, cheese and crackers, jello, pudding, raisins, or dried fruit.  Students may bring treat bags as well.  Drink suggestion:  juice.

Students may create Valentine containers to bring into class if they choose.  They may also bring a box they used in the past.  We have paper bags available to decorate and use as well.

In addition to our students’ names, we would like students to send 2 extra valentines for our friends from Cedar Ridge.  We are asking each student in include them when making valentines.  Just label the:  “To a Friend.”

Thank you for all of your help and involvement to make this school year a great one!

It is time for the annual Fall Festival.  The festival will be Saturday October 1st  from 5:00 – 8:00 pm.  The theme for the festival is SEAS.  Each class is responsible for a game booth and a themed basket. We will need volunteers to help with both of these areas.

Ø    The basket theme is A Few of My Favorite Things.  We will need as many items as possible to fill our Favorite Things basket.  Information has already been sent home regarding this theme, if you have any questions please contact me.  You may send in donations for the basket any time between now and September 29th.

Ø    The game booth that we will be setting up and running is Ping Pong Ball Toss. We will need volunteers to help decorate, run (collect tickets), and clean up the booth.  The theme for our booth is Sea Creatures.

Ø    Please fill out the schedule at the bottom with the time you would prefer to help.  As I receive the forms back I will then give them to our head roomparent, Mrs. Kreer, to create a schedule and contact individuals as needed.  If you are able to help after school on Friday September 30th please mark that as well.

This year there will be a competition for booth decorations with a monetary reward for the classroom.  If you have any ideas and are willing to help it would be greatly appreciated.  Please keep in mind that I believe that the booth should represent our student’s efforts and not a professional’s work.

Thank you for helping with this year’s fall festival.

Fall Festival Baskets

Filed under: Notes Home — admin @ 8:58 am

IMPORTANT — PLEASE HELP

Each year the homeroom classes are asked to put together a basket for the fall festival.  The basket that our homeroom was assigned to create seems to be a challenging theme; therefore, I have decided to change our basket.  We will NOT be creating an extreme couponing basket.

Our basket will be "A Few of Our Favorite Things."  Please think about what is something that is a favorite for your child.  Let's give a sample of who we are.  Some ideas include a favorite book or movie, pokemon cards, boxed macaroni and cheese, a doodle pad, markers, McDonald's coupons, a favorite magazine, or a favorite snack.  Your are not limited to this list; these are just a few thoughts.

The PTC has been so generous to our classrooms over the years and this is just one way for us to contribute.

There will be a sign up sheet coming next week for the booth.  Please consider helping to set up and run the booth on October 1.

Thank you for your help and support.

Class of 2011

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 12:28 pm

It is always so amazing when we are at the last week of school.  The year has flown by and so will this week.  Keep in mind that Thursday is the awards program for 5th grade at 10:00.

Friday students will be dismissed at 11:30 following our traditional 5th grade breakfast.  This year's breakfast will be a simple breakfast since the time we have is limited.  Some options may be fruit, bagels, donuts, yogurt cups (or gogurt), juice, milk, etc.  We believe it would be easier this year not having all of the hot items such as gravy and eggs.   Please send in a breakfast food for our final get together for the year.

**A special note about library books.  There are some who still have out library books from the Eastside library and some from the Bookmobile.  Please be sure to return the books by tomorrow.
