Students in grades 2-5 will have the opportunity to try out for our Battle of the Books teams during the week of Feb. 21-24.
2nd & 3rd graders will try out orally. A clue about a book will be given and the student will have the opportunity to answer with the correct book title. ( Titles must be exactly correct wording to be counted correct.) Students can earn bonus points if they answer the author’s last name of the book that they correctly identified. Bonus points will only be counted in the case of a tie.
4th & 5th grade students will have the opportunity to try out with a written test. 25 clues will be given, and students will answer with titles of the books. Only exact titles will be counted as correct, but incorrect spelling will not be counted against the student. Bonus points will be given for authors’ last names. Bonus points will only be counted in the case of a tie.
Best of luck to all our hard-working Eastsiders!
Kentucky author, Melissa Burton, is coming to share her knowledge and experiences with the students of Eastside on Monday, Nov. 21st. She will bring three of her books and have them for sale that day.
