I know that the weather has been unseasonably warm…. We are starting to have a problem with students wearing flip flops to school on their PE days. This is a huge safety issue, and it also limits students’ abilities to perform certain activities.
I need your help on this matter. Please make sure that your child wears tennis shoes to school on days that they have PE. If they do not, they will have to walk during their PE time, and will not be allowed to play, for safety reasons.
Thanks,
Coach Hill

I hope that everyone has an active and safe Spring Break, next week. Take advantage of any nice weather that we may have, and get out and enjoy the outdoors. Make sure that safety is always your first priority, no matter what you are doing.
More postings to come…..

It is hard to believe that baseball season is right around the corner. In preparation for this, we are beginning our Wiffle Ball Unit. Students in grades 1-5 will be playing regular Wiffle Ball. Students in Kindergarten will be playing T-ball.
The next thing on the schedule will be our 2nd round of Fitness Testing. This will be used to monitor progress and see if students can better their performance from the first round of testing, that was done at the beginning of the school year.
Stayed tuned…..

As most of you know, we participated in Jump Rope for Heart again this year. This year was one of our most productive years, as far as raising funds for the American Heart Association goes. Although, we had a fewer # of students to collect donations, the average amount per student was a little higher. We had right around 40 students turned money in. That is only about 10% of our student population. However, those students managed to bring in a total of over $2,000!!!!
That’s about $800 more than last year. So, I want to thank the students and people who donated to this worthy cause.
Thanks again,
Coach Hill

As many of you all may know, February is Heart Health Awareness month (along with many others)…
We are wrapping up our Jump Rope for Heart activities this week, that is are the culminating event that ties into our fundraising with the American Heart Association.
Next week we will learn even more about the Heart, as we begin our Heart Adventure Course. This will take the students through an obstacle course that shows them how the heart pumps blood through the body, by using the students as blood cells.
Thanks for checking in,

We are approaching the month of February, which is National Heart Health Month. Every year we partner up with the American Heart Association and participate in the Jump Rope for Heart program. This program is designed to help AHA raise money to help find a cure for various Heart Diseases.
I have sent home envelopes with the students that want to participate in this program. Their reward for participating, is that they can earn prizes from the AHA. All money that is collected for Jump Rope for Heart is to be turned into the front office at Eastside Elementary by Friday, February 3rd.
We will actually perform our Jump Rope for Heart activities the following week (Feb. 6-10). These activities will be done during PE class, and all students will participate in the activities.
The rest of the month of February will be dedicated to learning about the heart, how it works, and how important it is to exercise in order to keep your heart healthy. We will learn all of this information by going through our Heart Adventure Course.
Thanks,
Coach Hill
