You can qualify as a migratory worker:

1. If you move to find temporary or seasonal work in farming, fishing, or timber harvesting.

2. Your child changed schools to a new District.

3. You or your child are under the age of 21.

4. Have lived in Harrison County for less than 3 years.

These are some of the services that are available to help your child in the Harrison County Migrant Program:

  • summer home tutoring
  • Tutoring help with subjects in school
  • extended school tutoring

Help with physical needs:

  • medical/dental care
  • eyeglasses
  • clothing
  • free school lunches
  • Interpreters/ Translators
  • College/Career Opportunities

Many children who are Migrant and must move from school to school have these kinds of problems:

  • shyness and trouble making friends
  • many missed school days
  • gaps in classroom teaching - the new teacher may be teaching far ahead of the last teacher
  • other problems that affect learning

Migratory workers sometimes have no income between jobs and are not able to give their children as much as they want them to have:

  • good food
  • medical care
  • clothes
  • books
  • unexpected problems/ Emergencies

1. Si trabajas en un tipo de agricultura o en el campo.

2. Se cambiaron a un nuevo distrito escolar.

3. Usted o su hijo tienen menos de 21 anos.

4. Has vivido en el Condado Harrison menos de 3 anos.

  • Timidez y dificultad en hacer amistades.

  • dificultad en las clases como resulto de diferentes maestros.

El obrero migratorio a veces no tiene dinero (entre trabajos) y no le puede dar a sus hijos lo que necesitan, como por ejemplo:

  • Buena comida
  • Medicamentos necesarios
  • Ropa
  • Libros
  • Educaccion para Universidad

Todas estas problemas pueden causar que sus hijos no prosperen en la escuela o que se sientan incomodo o infelis.
